HELMUT LOTTI
€ 120,000 for
UNICEF in 2008 thanks to him
“As soon as I have a little time, I
am active as an UNICEF ambassador. I have the feeling to fulfil a duty
and to settle a debt for my success. Not everybody has the chance to be
happy in life,” explains Helmut Lotti, who presently is on a tour in
Germany.
In 2008, he did not count his time for UNICEF, having
had no less than nine activities. With the support of a team made up of
friends, he took part in the 24-hour cycling tour in Zolder and
collected € 50,000. In July, he had been the guest of honour at the
“Gala Dinner of the Most Exquisite Top Cooks” (“Banquet des grands
chefs”) and had collected € 36,000. In August, his presence at the
tennis tournament in Aartselaar had made it possible to collect 30,000
€. These three activities have brought in altogether 116,000 €. Besides,
there were the opening of an UNICEF shop, the introduction of a pen,
recording of messages as well as participation in the concert Stars of
Europe under the Atomium on September 19th.
In the same month,
he had gone on a mission in Burundi on the occasion of a campaign
against malnutrition, whose godfather he is. “After Namibia and
Mozambique, this was my third travel with UNICEF. My experience was very
impressive. I have the impression to be a different person,” he entrusts
to us.
His commitment for children started in 1996. In the year
before, his professional breakthrough had occurred. “I’ve deliberately
decided only to support one cause so that I can do as much as possible,”
concludes Helmut Lotti.
